Jamison Hill - 8th Grade Math

Joining REALMS to teach 8th grade math and 6th grade enrichment classes, Ms. Hill is a highly qualified math, language arts and social studies teacher with a masters degree from George Fox University.  She loves to find math ideas in nature and literature, and she's a shameless punster.  She taught 7th and 8th grade math and social studies at Three Rivers School in Sunriver and passionately believes the key to effective teaching is interesting students to take charge of their own learning.  One of her greatest joys is accompanying students on student-centered learning adventures that integrate math, science, art and literature.  A few of her recent projects include an authentic Renaissance Faire, linear equations art show, and an Empty Bowls community service fundraiser.

Ms. Hill lives in Sunriver with an 80 pound coonhound, her husband, a financial analyst and fly fisherman, and two boys: one a budding electric guitarist (age 11), the other an accomplished Star Wars lego set builder (age 8).  She grew up in San Diego and attended Pomona College in Claremont, CA.  Ms. Hill lived in Washington, DC, Maine, Georgia, and Seattle before settling in Central Oregon.  She studied environmental policy and managed recycling facilities before becoming a teacher.   Ms. Hill spends summers with her family on the coast of Maine and enjoys kayaking, lobster fishing and eating, picking blueberries, and reading obscure adolescent fiction.  When not planning or teaching her next experiential lesson, she loves making pottery, running, and cross-country skiing.  Ms. Hill is thrilled to join the faculty at REALMS  to embark on learning expeditions with her students.
